RTL highlights approach to combatting cut-through traffic
Recently, RTL Nieuws highlighted the measures taken by the Municipality of Vijfheerenlanden to address the growing issue of cut-through traffic. As cut-through traffic between Vianen and Lexmond increased, not only did the quality of life decline, but the accessibility of emergency services was also put under pressure.
In collaboration with Brickyard, the municipality implemented an innovative solution: ANPR cameras linked to advanced enforcement software. This technology enables effective enforcement of entry restrictions during peak hours. Thanks to Brickyard’s camera enforcement system, operational since July 1, cut-through traffic has been significantly reduced. Drivers using these routes without a permit now risk fines.
